Well, it's a separate application, but the installer installs both of them.
Also, just as a side note, you can just press the fullscreen button in ukmp to make it 'normal' app.
I won't detach it from ukmp for a while.
All that it does is just push the interface down enough to draw the Maemo bars. It doesn't resize or change how the app is displayed to fit the smaller space.
Is the reason why they aren't separate is because UKTube relies on some of the code used by UKMP as well?

@bnk: Beats me. I'm not too familiar with mplayer. Maybe you can make a pls file of the items and open that in mplayer.

Can you try opening uktube in xterm and have a look at what happens?
uktube always first creates the video folder. It needs to have space on mmc1 to store the files to.
