    Well I don't know why they call a nipple ''porn'', that's kinda exagerated, but yeah it must be a good decision from them. We all know Apple's way of doing things and if they want to keep that sleek brand image, for sure they won't make ads with nudity in them, which could lead to angry customers.
    Some people don't need to much to be shocked...

    Apple are hypocrites looking for media headlines. The Safari browser is the biggest porn app on the iPhone.

    is it because the ipad wont be able to play most of the porn out there(most use flash as most video sites too)?
    then again the sites could easy develop an apple friendly version of their site.

    but thats probably not why. they probably would rather open up a new adult channel on their i-tunes and sell it. apple dont want you to enjoy the web/mobile/entertainment experience without paying them.

    because it's an american company, here in europe we call this censureship
    it's just possible and acceptable because it's a company and not an administration

    Eve ate the apple and then knew she was naked. This was a good thing.

    @onutz

    IMHO your stated reasons are really far fetched. A ton of existing iPhone applications are just frontends to different web services and the developers do make money, so why would a frontend to a porn service not serve the same purpose? Financially it would make no difference to Apple whether the money comes from a porn app or a productivity app, except porn apps would probably sell more.

    It's a brand issue. The impression I have is that in the US holds quite a double standard when it comes to porn. They produce an insane amount of it yearly, but it's still somewhat of a taboo in the collective publics eye. Apple wants to avoid scandalous headlines that could smear the polished brand.

    @jsa
    well, I'd say because porn sells by itself, whilst all the others need communication.
    Or maybe I'm just wrong; but 5000 porn apps is something! I'd like to see OVI selling at least one sexy / porn app first...

    Correction: I'd like to see OVI just selling
