Will it lose all my contacts/apps and etc' ? I have made a backup, but would I be able to restore later?
Would be glad for a guide on this new version.

    Thanks
You shouldn't have any problems at all. Just update and "et voilą"!

    No need to even backup/restore?

Nope, I'm in Israel, and the n900 was bought in the US. It appeared about a week ago (maybe a bit less).

You'd best backup, just to be on the safe side, but an OTA update shouldn't affect any of the data/applications you've got installed.

Same for me (in the UK). I have an unbranded N900. Is the corresponding PR1.1.1 firmware still not out?

Nope, still not out. There's been a report that it's being bundled into the PR1.2 firmware, but that's second-hand from a Nokia support guy.
