this afternoon I was in a restaurant to get some food.
I laid my N900 on the table planning to check some mail.
the waitress came with some drinks and stumbled.
all drinks poored over my N900!

while shocked I managed to turn it off and remove the battery.
I leaved it alone till I got home just now testing all functions.
it seems to do just fine. it's just a little sticky now.

sorry for spamming but maybe you guys who also love this device can imagine what a scare it was.

Strange...the exact same thing just happened to me at lunch. A few minutes after the spill, I saw the waitress talking on an iPhone. I imagine she is part of the same secret organization that your waitress is a part of, and was calling to verify a positive hit on a target, and to receive the coordinates for her next attack. We live in dark times.

I've done this with other phones, moisture inside the device is what can cause problems, a neat little trick is to put the phone in a bag of rice, the rice will suck moisture out of it, if it is stuck in there, hopefully all is well!

Now that you have revealed their secret masterplan, perhaps it's time to make a plan to counter-attack this?

I ran into a buddy of mine on the street a few weeks back. We hadn't seen each other in a while, he's in the phone industry, and I was excited to show him my new N900. As soon as I handed it to him, he promptly lost his grip, dropped it, tried to save the falling phone with his boot, and ended up kicking it to the curb.

"Damn, you HTC guys are tough on the competition!" I said.

Embarrassed, he picked it up, remarking, "Aagh, I see why you've got a wrist-strap on it..."

To his credit, he offered to replace it, but only with an HTC device.

To the credit of the team who made the N900, my phone was un-scathed.

;-)

YMMV & don't try this at home...
