Yes, people, I've done it but for a brief amount of time!

Here is my video:

The possible cause of the glitch, I indicated in the Description area of the video.

Enjoy!

The app "Braek" was once used as a glitch to make the phone stay in portrait mode. But check this out:
http://www.nokian900applications.com...or-nokia-n900/

Just follow the steps or read the comments for clarification, and there you go. Screen modes supported, even landscape when you turn the phone 180 (invert landscape, if you can say so :P).

But you need to launch it again on reboots, and to make that easier just make a shortcut.

@toto, even if i didn't want to, i couldnt because i may make it revert back to normal before even recording the event... :-P

@wheatbisc, So this is an alternative to semi-permanent portrait mode?? Cool!

Well, for now it is. I also read that portrait mode is suppported by python-hilden: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=31940

But it's barely usable right now. I actually got the onscreen keyboard in portrait, when in conversations, but half of it is missing...

The only thing I'd like to see in portrait is conversations (writing). Rest of the system UI would ofcourse be great in portrait, but we can only wish

my main concern in portrait is the way the text would be flushed to the next line fit on the length of the screen, much like RSS, or Facebook updates.

But overall i would like to see a fully usable portrait mode. I just hope that arrives by the end of the month (FIRMWARE UPDATE!!!!!)
