    Hey guys!
I finally got my off ebay.co.uk N900 today, been wanting it since it came out. Have been playing with it for some hours now, and am truly amazed. I only have a small problem.

I would like to get the latest firmware, as the reported FW-version of my device is 1.2009.42-11.205.1. When I go to the update manager on the phone, or through Nokia PC-suite, they both say I have the newest FW installed. However, if I go to http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware, click N900 and insert my IMEI, I get this list:

THIS LICENSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS

    eMMC content 1.2009.41-1
    OS 2009 version 1.2009.42-11
    OS 2009 version 1.2009.42-11
    OS 2009 version 1.2009.42-11
    OS 2009 version 1.2009.42-11
    OS 2009 version 2.2009.51-1
    OS 2009 version 2.2009.51-1
    OS 2009 version 2.2009.51-1
    PR 1.1.1 version 3.2010.02-8
    PR 1.1.1 version 3.2010.02-8
    PR 1.1.1 version 3.2010.02-8

    My questions are as follows:
Why don't the newer software updates show in the update manager or PC-suite?

Since it is a UK-phone, can I still install the european PR 1.1.1 version 3.2010.02-8 using the flasher? I am a bit confused as there is a seperate webpage regarding uk-devices. To make it even more confusing, there is a separation between regular UK FW and Vodafone FW (I can see that I have Vodafone FW-version now, but the phone is sim-unlocked). And what happens if I install the "wrong" FW?

There are a multitude of threads all over the forums about this issue, for whatever reason Nokia have chosen, as with a large number of their phones they havent bothered/havent gotten round to/forgot to release the latest update for UK variant phones.
If you want the update, you'll need to reflash to the global firmware, which will work perfectly fine on UK phones.

. Ah, OK good news. As I am in Norway, I probably dont need the UK-specific FW, so as long as the other FW-versions work I guess I will flash it. Still think it is puzzling that I dont receive either of the two never UK-FW-version though.

Also, another question which might be stupid, but I'll risk it: The device is bought on a Vodafone-subscription, but is at least now SIM-unlocked. Is it possible that the ebay-seller has unlocked it, and that my flashing another FW will again make it SIM-locked?

    Appreciate the help

    Best regards

I doubt it, Vodafone UK have been providing unlocked phones (even via contract ) since early 2008.

Nice! I was not aware of that. In Norway, all the carriers lock their phones for a year. Thank you all for answering my silly questions. Now I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed, as I attempt to flash my FW

    I love my new phone!
