I've had my n810 for awhile now and for the most part it's been dandy, but the other day, my n810 stopped recognizing my charger. i'm really hoping it's not the charging port. i haven't tried another charger. i have a wall charger so it's not the end of the world if it's the charging port thing but i was thinking of selling it soon so i want it to work. is there any other reason why it wouldn't work? i plug it in and absolutely nothing happens.

The centre pin on the charge socket broke on my N810 after about 18 months very heavy use.

I think replacing the socket is very easy. I just have to get a replacement.

My power jack got so loose that it was very hard to get it to charge. I actually was able to take the jack apart and fix it by reshaping the metal pieces. Yes it was hard.

The power jack is only press-fitted against the PC board. This could be another failure point for some people that would be easier to fix.

The best solution would be to find a supply of these jacks for sale. they would fairly easy to replace since no soldering is needed.

I would also like to find replacement keyboard button sheet, since the labeling is wearing out. Maybe even a new touch-screen since touch sensitive layer is uneven enough that perfect calibration is impossible.

Yeah, sounds like you need to crack the case and fix/replace the plug. I'd look into doing that.

The "plug" part can come from a new charger (even a cheap one that can be found on Ebay), then splice the wires together from your old charger.

If you wish to replace the whole charger, note that I've had trouble finding ones that can actually power the NIT and charge the battery at a decent rate. It seems you need a charger that can do at least 1000 Ma. Most cheap chargers seem to be for Nokia's phones with smaller screens, batteries, and processors and have trouble supplying power to the NIT.

The "Jack" part (as in the part that is on the NIT), good luck, but let me know if you find a source for them. Maybe they can be stolen from discarded Nokia phones that use this connector? Maybe a Phone repair shop might have a supply of these that they would be interested in selling to the public.

The same thing just recently happened to my N810. It no longer recognizes the charger. I thought it may be the charger but it works fine on my N800, so I purchased a new battery for the N810 and still nothing.

I also thought it may be that the driver had been corrupted so I flashed it and and reinstalled OS2008 hoping that would do the trick, but still nothing.

I love my N810, I still think it is one of the best at what it does and I want to keep it alive as long as possible.

I found an "external" batter charger on Amazon and I am going to try that as a temporary fix. But I am beginning to think it may be the internal ac connector jack.

I have not opened it up yet, but from the prior posts it sounds like it may not be to difficult to replace, if a replacement can be found. Has anyone found any replacements?
