nokia maps 3.1 and garmin ( which are on symbian handsets like n95-n97) are much better then tomtom, we have a tomtom which no one really uses any more. I like having one device that does all. some times i'm in friends car and i can direct them using my phone. Hope fully maps v3 and sygic will be on n900 soon.
dont know what tomtom you have but mine is internet connected pulls traffic down via gprs (simm inside) gets tms which is super arrurate, alerts me of delays en route; works out eta by average journey time data collected over years along with current traffic conditions is voice controlled and plays through my car stereo alerts me of speed cameras and has a vast database of poi, car parks and other services who can be contacted by a few screen presses plus i will probably think of a load more if you want.
im not slating the up and coming release but i guarantee that people wont be replacing their tomtoms yet and that when it is released the features available will be way below cufrent top end sat navs.
if you use a sat nav for business travel it will be a good few years before a smartphone can replace one if ever.
satnav will however be very useful to have on a mbile device you carry about with you all the time and i do look forward to it coming out for when i need to navigate whilst away from my vehicle.
