sorry to post a new thread on this but all other threads on the topic are way old and i got nothing from it.

can someone help me with getting google gadgets on the n900

Erm... Porting is a very technical process.

What are your computing capabilities?

They won't "just work," if that's what you want.

(Sorry if I'm sounding a bit arrogant, I don't have the capabilities to port things myself.)

i would say i have moderate computing skills..much better at windows than linux..but im learning but instructions were given i could follow without any problems

Well, if I were you I'd start researching. What language are google gadgets written in? Would you make them into Qt or GTK+ widgets?

Crucial questions before porting anything.

As for a tutorial, not many exist, as many people would rather do it themselves rather than create tutorials.

Textbooks do exist, and are likely avaliable at your local library (or online). Learning the basics, then starting the project and getting help on the way is probably your best bet.
