So i try to parition my flash card

and step by step i follow this tutorial

but when i want umount my device

code :

umount /media/mmc1

or

umount /media/mmc2


I have a error message : argument invalide

I don't know why i have this message

Are you doing this as root?
Are both of those currently mounted?
Are you using an n800 or n810?

Yes i am doing it as root
This is on a n800

I don't know exactly, but on the /media directory i have
mmc1 and mmc2

Typing 'mount' will give you a list of all currently mounted filesystems.
You should see something like
although this has been taken from an n900 filesystem.
To unmount you should be able to, as root:
which should unmount the filesystem to let you repartition it. Your previous command looked correct too, though, so I'm not sure why it said 'invalid argument' unless you typo'd.
Let us know what happens.

I'm no expert, BUT I believe that if the memory device is mounted, you cannot unmount individual partitions.

/media/mmc1 and mmc2 are the sd cards.
If the device is in use you wouldn't be able to unmount it, but I can unmount either.

mmc1 is the external card (under the n800 kickstand)
mmc2 is the internal card (under the battery cover)

Right, but if mmc2 has the virtual memory file on it, you won't be able to unmount it. They also sometimes will forbid unmounting if there is errors on the disk. I know, it's stupid, but hey, what can you do? If it is a problem with a disk error that makes the disk impossible to unmount, just reboot and see if that clears it. If not, power off the device, plug in the USB, power on the device and let it load. What will happen is that the usb will take control of the drives before the system can, allowing you to scandisk for errors.
