Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum. I have looked everywhere but couldnt find the answer if everyday n900 users will be getting meego. In one of the articles it was talking of some repository, what does that mean and how does that make a difference whether who gets it or not?

also, I'm assuming that its going to be buggy so this is a beta test phase?

thank you in advance for your help. Just bought my n900, should be arriving tomorrow.

You would be right to assume that it's going be buggy and in a beta test phase.

Hello and congratulations for your new N900!
Well, at this moment it is no clear will N900 get MeeGo official update and support. There is info Meamo5 will be compatible with all new apps, written for Meego, but it is not clear the future update of N900.

But, N900 is "open"device, so with or without Nokia we will have a possibility to upgrade with Meego. There is a very strong Maemo community, so I think that we together can push Nokia to make Meego update ( if they are smart enough to save their current Maemo users and not look only for next Meego users ).

In the meantime my strong advice is be happy with your new mobile/computer and do not fear about the future - you already have a device, which is very capable to do a lot of things.

Regards and enjoy your new toy!

Thank you so very much for the thorough explanation. I have seen some awesome apps built by the community and have no fear about meego, etc. I am however scared of flashing and reinstalling other software because I initially bought a E72 but Win 7 (I love win 7 ) screwed it up cuz the Nokia Ovi Suite is incompatible or something. NSU is fine so I had to send it back and then decided to go with this one

I am really looking for a good screen protector and case (no pouch plz). I looked into the accessory thread but there were 600 replies to the protector, case thread which were mostly inclusive. I am thinking of going with clearview or something for screen but I am looking for a hard case not the Zagg protector cuz that wont protect it from a fall. Any good suggestions? Sorry about turning the direction of the thread. Thanks.

I am using Zagg protector for all body and am happy with it.
You can get Zagg for display only.

There are many hard-cases - just try in e-bay.
Regards.

MeeGo will come eventually for the masses, and I am sure as with previous versions of Nokia OS's it will be available for the N900 too. Everyone just needs to step back, walk out side for a bit, get some sun and relax.

Mer, MeeGo, Debian the choices for N900 users are piling up

Sounds great but i'm worried that some hardcases might mess up the aluminium trim on the side. Its bulky as it is, i dont want more fat lol. Wish i could say the same about food.
