I'm a total linux n00b but I got carried away last night. I followed some guy's instructions to get .gba and .nes files to open with their respective applications. I installed rootsh and I think VIM in xterm.

What does VIM do?
It wasn't in extras but i'm guessing it is in extras-devel. Knowing that I'm a n00b, should I panic and uninstall it immediately?
If I uninstall it, will my .nes and .gba setting stay or are they gone?

Is my N900 going to die? (iExaggerate)

Thanks

VIM is a very sophisticated text-editor for the commandline. It is not dangerous!

EDIT: Uninstalling VIM will not delete your gba or other files.

If I uninstall it, will I still be able to open a .nes file with iNES without having to go through that "select application to open with" ****ery

I don't see how having VIM installed would affect the opening of files, no. But I don't know what the original instructions entailed - I'd have thought that they'd only involve using VIM to edit some configuration file(s).

I figured that was it but I wasn't sure.
Thanks
