I have only had the 770 for a week. Charger use to show when battery was full -- first few times. Now when I plug in charger, the screen starts out showing the battery charging, then goes black and never indicates when battery is full. I just guess on how long to keep it charging. Anybody experience this? The directions say not to overcharge battery, but it is hard to figure out when it's overcharged.

Don't quote me for legal purposes, but I've heard that the warning against overcharging only really applies to NiMH/NiCd batteries, which the N800 does not use. LiIon chargers (like the N800) have to be "smarter" by necessity - and while LiIon batteries don't hold a full charge as well as a partial one, the charger should be designed to not permit an overcharge.

Yes, the manual is quoting old logic that doesn't apply to these batteries. I believe there is circuitry in the battery itself to limit overcharging. Regardless though, it doesn't sound right with your 770 turning off while charging. If you bring the 770 up and then plug in the charger does it do the same thing? You might want to reflash the firmware on the unit.

This seems to be normal. I experience the same on my 770 and N800.
The screen goes black after a while, but the system is not powered off.
When holding down the power button, it will load the desktop immediately.
It's annoying that you don't see when the device is fully charged though.
I'm not using the original Nokia 770/N800 charger but some charger originally made for the Nokia 6610 by some German accessory producer. Its green
led shows me when the device is fully charged. My original 770 charger's
cable broke after half a year of usage.
