Crappy filesystem being used isn't Nokia's fault really, if Windows supported ext3 we wouldn't have all these problems would we

so nokia decided to use a crappy filesystem and its not their fault??

    OK!

I don't need to reinstall my windows os after 4 months on my pc. I've never had to reflash any other phone.

Isn't it bizarre some of you seem to think nothing is nokias fault when it comes to n900 problems.

ok so its now not even initiating the flash. Just says USB device not found, waiting.

Do I need to reformat the internal drive before I start? Fat32??

    thanks

ok this is just getting too random!

I reformatted the internal drive but didnt manage to reflash it. I assume its an issue with win7? It wouldnt pick up the USB connection

Seems ok, however obviously lost everything I had saved on the drive including the standard ringtones, backgrounds etc.

Is there a standard file that I can restore these?

    further quick update.....

its going into a Nokia Service shop tomorrow for a flash. Seem to have the device memory but theres nothing in it now due to the reformat.

This seems to have been caused by repeatedly saving and changing SMSconversation file (following the customizing N900 conversations thread) which is bit worrying if it this weak.

I'll see how it goes once the reflash has been completed.

    cheers
