Howdy:
I was looking forward to using my N800 next week while at a trade show, and hoping to make video calls to my job and also to my office. It looks like Gtalk for the N800 supports video, but is there a client for the PC or mac that has video? Is there any way to revert back to the old internet call invitation program?

So far, the update seems pretty cool. Skype is working well. I've got my thumbpad responding accurately. I had opera crash, but since clearing the cache and cookies and seems fine.

I'm very interested in this topic as well because I just ordered an N800 due to its ability to conduct video calls with the desktop! Anyone have the final answer? Does this new firmware (with Flash 9) now support Flash-based web sites such as www.wengomeeting.com for videoconferencing? Anyone with an N800 and the new firmware willing to test that out???

Thanks!

Greetings:

May I ask how do you clear cookies and cache?

Opera seems to stall at websites like Maemo.

Unless there are 1,00ths of people trying to download programs, then its normal.

As for YouTube it is still slow, but its OK I'll be installing the new UKtube, it works great.

Nokia has got to fix this problem of making users loose all the programs whenever there is an new firmware.

This is a lot of work to reinstall all the programs.

Regards Robert

I did some small tests and Flex applications seem to work now. Also a flex application that uses a webcam detects on the n800 that one is present (asks to access it), but when you accept nothing happens. I'm going to set up a test flex page.
Don't expect to much though: Webcam communication from flex is quite processor intensive and the flash performance is not great on the n800 (although improved in the new release).

I just tested the new release on uStream, still a no go. Ustream recognizes flash 9 and asks if its ok to use the web cam. But when you click ok you start streaming nothing, no video no audio. The advanced settings for uStream show a Linux microphone in the audio options and nothing for a video device....

I was hoping this release would unleash the power of this device to be a mobile A/V streaming machine, but alas its not.

The only thing you can use the camera for (still) is the g-talk client, and even then no one else can use g-talk for video so its sort of pointless....

heck I've never even been able to get the camera to record video...

Come on Nokia, one of the best features on this device is the camera, stop with the handcuffs!!!

Maybe Nokia knows something about Gtalk that we don't know? Was the N800 Gtalk developed by Google or Nokia? It seems that if video is added to the PC client maybe we'd be in business?
