Hello,

I have an issue with my N900 since I updated to the latest firmware.
I looked for any existing thread but couldn't find any solutions.

I bought my phone 2 months ago. Everything fine, never had an issue.
Three days ago, I updated my phone with NSU, everything went fine. But since that update, the earpiece sound is constantly changing for both made/received call.
The loudspeaker works perfectly.

I read some threads saying it's a hardware issue but it's kind of hard to believe because the phone was working perfectly before (Never been dropped thanks god).

I'm thinking of resetting the phone. Do you think It may work ?
Anyone have/had this problem ?

PS: Sorry for my English.
Thanks

has any progress been made on this?
my phone is not even usable as a headset any more. i have to have headphones in just to make a phone call. it is so frustrating picking up the phone and hearing the person one second and not the next.
i think it may have something to do with the proximity sensor. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had problem with the earpiece in another way.
My device didn't recognize the headsets, so one can say that it was a hardware matter but fortunately when I upgraded(using NSU) to third update, the problem get resolved and now everything goes fine.
From my view your problem will not gone until you go for an update or reinstall the firmware(same), perform at your own risk.

Your earpiece problem could be due to the hardware on in your N900. I have to take mine in every 2-3months as the earpiece begins acting up.

Since your problems arose when you updated the firmware, then I would try a reflash of the device just in case, but beware you will lose all saved data on your phone.

If you want to read about it, here's the bugreport on this issue:
