Start searching for the patents... that's how news broke about the N800.

I, for one, hope they focus on the N800 (patches, features, etc.) for the next 1.5 years and worry about a new version then. I really want to see them get the most out of the current hardware before talk of the next gen comes up. There are still plenty of things to be developed and fixed on the N800. I am happy with the N800 and look forward to what the device will become with future OS releases.

It would be crazy of Nokia not to have the next version already in the works. It would be equally crazy to treat the N800 as the 770 was. There have been some improvements on the latter, but still some way to go.

Indeed. If they would abandon the N800 directly as soon as a successor is around the corner, many people would lose trust in Nokia. I didn't buy a 770, so i dont feel the 'pain' of those buyers. But i can imagine it perfectly.

When the N800 is capable of all the promised features and doing them as they should do (not like now that YouTube movies only play well after they are downloaded, that's crap), then it's time for a bigger step.

Although i can imagine they are being busy with developing a N900, 'cause of the market demanding other kinds of technology (in the (near) future). But first make the N800 good please.

my ideal device is the n800 size and form factor but with a much stronger cpu and memory. basically a n800 sized iphone but without the phone off course and the multitouch technology. i still find the n800 a tad bit slow and would like it to be snappy. i do feel that its the second best pocket internet available. the first being iphones safari.
