Thought I had better check

Is anyone here on T-Mobile and using the global firmware?

I have the UK firmware at the minute, but was thinking of switching and wanted to make sure it worked OK???

Cheers

Im unable to connect to T-mobile 3g in my home area - everywhere else works fine, just when Im at home.
Was thinking of flashing the firmware, just to see if it made a difference.
Basically, their network in my area is hopelessly overloaded, and it won't get fixed anytime soon but I wanted to try it just in case

hmm, works fine for where I live&work.
I dont think changing the firmware can help much in this regard, the issue could be with the coverage ? have you checked it with another phone ?
alternative is to use wifi at home, i know its obvious but still

Flashing to global should cause absolutely no problems. Plenty of UK users have done so, personally i'm on O2 so can't comment firsthand but there's no reason that switching from uk > global firmware should cause problems regardless of your network.
Plus, you can always switch back. The process of backup > reflash > restore takes 10-15 minutes tops.

I was happy using wifi until I lost my internet connection for 8 days.
It was only then that I discovered that despite picking up a 3.5G signal, I couldn't get a single web page to load - everything timed out.
Early mornings was OK and web access was fine, but evenings and weekends, my phone is useless on 3G, won't load a single page. So then the long slow process of t-mobile support calls started, and have so far fixed nothing. Its definately a capacity problem, as off peak it works as well as elsewhere.
Thought Id try different firmware, just in case..

how about 2G ? Ive noticed its not that bad on T.Mo atleast for normal browsing and small downloads. Have you tried the switch ?
