Poke around in /usr/share/themes.
I'm working on a control panel applet to allow you to change font size dynamically.

you mean that we could have, for instance, font 12 also
using the default themes? I'd love you more than what I already do if you ever succeed

I have been using these ever since I had my 770, and they work great. I prefer the 14pt size, it's more in proportion to the screen rez. Once you install the package from the author's homepage, you'll have duplicates of all the stock themes, but with the smaller fonts.
