Hello there.
I'am waiting for my n900 to come.

But I just noticed that the battery lasts less on this nokia than on any other ti omap phone.

examples according official data
/-->with 2g phone calls
-N900 6.5 hrs
-iphone 3gs 12hrs
-satio 11hrs (smaller battery 1000mah)
-droid is the same
-omnia hd 13hrs bigger bat 1500mah

should it get at least over 10 hrs?

/-->3g talk times are roughly the same considering the different batteries and phone's configurations

/-->standby times
n900 getting the shortest times
but not too far from iphone 3gs
all the rest are up.

and so on....

is it maemo not being power efficent?
the only difference i can think of is the swap memory.
while talking it should have screen off and system to lower power consumption. also at stand by...

what do you think guys?

and hello maemo!!!!

I can get 2 days worth of battery time from my N900 if I don't run data connections or do something advanced. Normally I have 3.5G connected all the time though, and you get about a days worth of battery time in that case.

Battery life of the N900 is depending how many apps you installed and run. If you installed a lot of unoptimised and unoptified version then it will consume your battery as well or loading your CPU clock.

Also depending on if you turn off the screen while calling it. During phone call the screen should be disabled to save battery. Also turn off every single apps not in used will dramatically improving the battery life.

Also remember that: N900 Maemo5 is still on an ongoing maintaining and no where near its optimum state yet.

still those numbers are from nokia themselves, i think they did they best to achive the longest talk time possible.

i guess it leaves room for improvement

how much time do you guys get form watching lets say an avi movie cd size...?
still, getting the longest time possible no apps, only 2g connection...

thank you guys for your quick reply!
anyways these bad boy is much better than my last phone, a qtek ppc with winmo 6.5

Playing video on N900 and plug into TV I got about 2 movies long. Roughly 3hours long on videos.
I don't use 2G, I constantly connected to 3G and my everyday usage is various from day to day. It lasted me about 24hours to 36hours long.

The problem is Multi-tasking will sacrificing battery and frame rate drop. Other wise Multi-tasking is great comparing to other device out there. Other devices may only have fake multi-tasking implementation or limited tasks and put the task to sleep if not in use.

N900 keeping tasks fully active whether using or not using.

from my personal experience, 6hrs movie viewing is about right.

i did implement the smartreflex (2 lines of code in xterm) and using autodisconnect. 1 day of active usage, or 2+ days of purely phone mode, min sms/phone calls.
