Damn! that was a suprise Usually I get about 2.4Mbit. I'm in Exeter (mid-devon), a stones throw from no signal at all...
Wow, I vowed not to go back to Vodafone after the trouble I had with them in the past but that is a fairly convincing argument.
I think I am going to pickup a few PAYG SIM card to test real-life speeds in my area before deciding on my contract renewal plan in June. One thing is for sure, it won't be O2!
It looks like it might be between Three and Vodafone assuming I don't stick with T-Mobile (which I might as if I keep my £10 loyalty at current prices I could get 600 mins, 500 text and Internet for £5/month).

you got all that for a fiver? that's dead cheap man. how long you been wid them? why the hell when i tried to play hard balls wid Three they always told me 15 for 500mins unlimited texts and data was the best they can do!!! any suggestion about how to play hard ball wid three when it comes to upgrading your contact???
kinda got one question riding along wid this thread for those who are wid vodafone UK. heard rumors saying that voda's cool about customers going beyond their allowed data allowance. it's that true? cuz i m wid three and they only give me 1GB per month. wid n900, i think there might be a chance i could go beyond that.
Well...I would never encourage you to push your luck but I regularly exceed 5GB/month and haven't been linched yet
I guess I'm happy with these results.. Although sometimes the speeds are horrible.
EDIT: Oh and I assume they mean MBit/s and not MByte/s. That speed is btw near our home connection, even though we should be getting somewhere around 24MBit/s at home. Damn you, thompson router!
