Happened two times up till now: all the desktop applets disappear.

Two different situations; first one: i changed theme and the applets disappeard - second one: unlocked the device pressing power+dpad center, pressed backlight icon on statusbar, all the screen became blank, waited 10 seconds and the screen is been refreshed but all applets are gone.

Solution: restore the applets through the desktop menu second time it proposed me a different layout, but choosing ignore layout just restored the applets as they were located before

I had also this problem two times. But in both situations the wlan connection was dropped. So i thought this could be related to the network connection.
After a restart all applets were back again.
Does already a bugreport exist?

I remember this time I still was not connected (it was through BT, tough, that I was trying to connect), first time I don't remember...

That question can only be answered by Nokia themselves.

Its been two days for me and the only thing that works on my N800 is Skype.

Regards Robert
Flash back.

Unless you have a critically ill touchscreen or a morbid desire to use Skype, just go back to the previous firmware, because nothing else in this piece of [deleted] software is making things better for your N800.

It rather seems the problems are in your configuration/router/dns or whatever.

I have zero problems with youtube, ITT, google etc. It just works as before, not slower and not faster.

I suggest to reflash the device, and do not install any backup or other software and then do your browsing tests.
I found solution and now every website works fine. This one helped:

[QUOTE=Milhouse;58223]Maybe someone should open a bug in Bugzilla for this problem?

I wonder if this gconftool setting (discussed here) has now become the default in the new firmware? It might be worth trying the old value:

Code:
gconftool-2 --set --type int '/system/osso/connectivity/IAP/wlan_sleep_timeout' '1000'
And seeing if it makes any difference.[/QUOTE

Type that into xterm. I agree we should open a bug in Bugzilla for this problem.

The RSS reader works exactly as before as far as I can tell. I barely get to read one or two entries now and then - the rest is gone.

Agreed, I don't think the RSS reader has received any updates for this release. Don't forget to vote for bug #953 in order to prompt Nokia to do something about the unusable behaviour of the RSS app when auto-updates are enabled.
