Speaking of DS... its sound hardware is pretty much designed for music: 16 channels, hardware mixing, etc... On the N900 synthesis and mixing has to be done on software side which is slower.

Anyway, I've been planning (read: dreaming of) a music sequencer for the DS. At least, I've been making lots of mock-ups. I've also been dreaming of a complete sequencer+synth on the N900 ever since I heard of it.

FruityLoops 3.56 was the best FL version ever. LMMS is good too, but its interface (especially the song editor) is more similar to the newer ones.

PS. I'd like to see Aldrin running on the N900 too.

so...after 6 months this thread has resulted in nothing. It reminds me of the meetings that are held by the idiots I work with.

Not really a music composing software, but a nice little place to upload tracks and remix them online is jamglue.com. Look pretty good on the n900 screen. Just sux that you have to be online and whatever track or mix you create other member can just go ahead and download it,

Ok, to get some live back into this thread, I wanted to let you know that I'm currently busy developing some pocket FL. Don't expect a true Pocket FL (which is already limited by processing power and other...) soon. I still have a job and a family, so I'm doing this in my little spare time. Currently I'm planning and building the basic engine and song format. If this is running flawlessly I will go over to the graphic interface. So still some way to go. But I'm really wanting something like that myself.

Up to now I was more into tracker, since I always hated using a mouse. But the touch screen thing changes a lot - interface like. Something like FL with touch would be awesome.

    Guys

slightly off topic, but I have now pushed maelophone to extras.

    http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...phone/0.3.0-2/

I need organ sound samples for the next release. Any musicians out there that can make me some ?

I would also like to add a basic drum loop in. I'm not a musician so any loops on this would also be good.

This could be awesome - you have my greatest encouragement to get this going. I'd like to offer help, but unfortunately I can only do PHP! Maybe I can just stick to user testing
