    Application Manager Problems

I haven't updated anything on my N800 (Maemo 4) for a while. Now I come to do it, I am having problems with the Application Manager.

At first it was OK, but I then got an out-of-memory message.

Since then, I can't start it without getting Operation Failed.

    The log says:

apt-worker: can't truncate lock /var/lib/hildon-application-manager/apt-worker-lock. No space left on device read: Bad file descriptor.
Using df to check space, /mnt/mtdblock4 is 99% full.

    What/where should I delete?

I would start with your documents area. Any big downloads you don't need anymore? Anything you can move to a memory card?

Then if your browser has such a setting you could try clearing browsing history, etc.

Do you have any apps storing data in the device's main memory rather than on a memory card? If so, can you move the data? I'm thinking e-mails & media files mainly.

Hopefully that should get you enough space to work the Application Manager again. There, you can sort your apps by size and delete those you don't need.

What is the complete "df -h" output?

I found a couple of unneccessary files that could be deleted and got the usage back to 93% and application manager now works.

    Time to tidy up methinks!

    Thanks.

I guess I need to update that, but can't see which package it is in.

    Help!

Edit: just seen that this is a Canola problem. Panick over.
