I didnt increase voltage. So far I've tested a lot of different applications that require heavy cpu calculating power and in short 10-15min bursts I've yet to notice any misbehaviour @ 950mhz. The phone is now so smooth acting, but for how long?
I dont encourage anyone to run at faster than stock clockspeeds. Actually I should say (just to cover my back) that one should never run it past 600mhz.
So is there any easy way to speed up to 800MHz looking from user who knows linux, but isn't that familiar by itself?
I'll upload the kernel files for 650,700,750,800,825,850,900 somewhere once I've determined my phone wont fry. I dont consider it nice behaviour to upload hazardous files on the internet.
I'm actually more interested in what happens if you drop the maximum to 500 or 550 (and ideally reduce the voltage if possible). I get about 50% more battery life out of my laptop with a PentiumM processor using NHC to reduce its max to 1.4 GHz from 1.6 and reducing the voltage for all clock steps, and the difference in performance is negligible.
Another thing that might be worth trying is to run 600MHz at OPP3 instead of OPP5. It might be out of spec, but Pandora people report that it is stable and it might save some battery if your processor spends a lot of time at this frequency.
