So yes, you can definitely be unlucky where it may not be stable at 800Mhz.
Try flashing to 750Mhz and see if it improves. If so, that's probably your stable limit.

it still crashes even at 750
but the thing is, midori works perfectly, is there a way to uninstall microb and reinstall it?

i was able to overclock the phone to 800Mhz, boot it without problem and using it for 5 minutes
but i am hunting longer battery life instead of speed, so i am running kernel with 125Mhz enabled
(125,250,500,550,600) instead of (250,500,550,600)
cool, thanks for the hint. Recompiled kernel with a just a couple mods for 125-800mhz, and sure enough, the little phone is nicely more responsive. Thanks to all the guys compiling and testing; was a little apprehensive myself, but meh, that's what makes this 'phone' fun to own.

You get a lot bigger power saving by a decrease in voltage, so i'm wondering if anyone has played reducing the voltages yet. Maybe i should start a different thread for the freaks that like to underclock. You know, those that grew out of the box-fan-strapped-to-a-case phase and look for fanless video cards and loyally read silentpc...

Have beeng my N900 @ 900 mhz and love the responsiveness. Although it was still jerky while browsing and using the app manager to update a few apps. But this makes me wonder why was it underclocked so low in the first place?
