Just answer to question(s) you can. After these are answered, I'll edit my post to make it easier for people to find the answers.
--- #1 Backlight flicker ---
The screen's brightness varies semi-rapidly in all situations (small variations, not a big one)
- Very barely seen (if at all, maybe my brain just makes me see it now that I know) when brightness set to very bright
- Better seen when set to very low
- Best seen when the "screen dimmer" kicks in which sets the screen brightness a notch lower than can be set by the utility.
- Clearly seen when the "screen dimmer" kicks in, the N800 is in charger AND charging (this is the first time I noticed it.. Just have some application running with white areas, as on top of those colors the brightness variation is seen best)
Question: Is this with your device as well? Report! (Think this is normal?)
Answer: It is normal. For details, see post #3.
Side-question: Does the charger emit odd sound (for ~5 seconds) when you
plug it off the wall outlet (just plug it it, keep it in for a moment, take it out and keep it near your ear) .. No, I'm not a "sound freak", just worried about new stuff.
Answer: Not answered yet. (I got my hands on same Nokia charger model and it exhibits the same sound effect, so normal?.. Still waiting input from the community
Side-question: I read somewhere that I can set the screen brightness manually by echoing values to some /sys/ (was it?) file, but can't remember and can't find the post.. Anyone?
Answer: Read http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/#backlight. See post #3 for details.
--- #2 Cursor jitter ---
- When I scroll a page in the browser (hold the scrollbar), it jumps up and down a bit (no, not hand shake as it doesn't do this in Sketch or when pressing something longer, to make the menu appear)
Question: What's that? the touch screen doesn't seem to register that "jitter" anywhere else than when scrolling, odd.
Answer: It is normal. See post #2 and #3 for details.
Thank you guys and/or girls, these answers help me sleep a bit better at night.
