Can we have something like this which is available on the droid?

An app to control the clock speed...

On my Dell PocketPC, I can adjust the clock speed too something like the Droid's app, but not for OC, more like limit the clock speed.

thats what i'v been asking, use a custom kernel which is supported by app that allows user to set range from 600mhz-900mhz

We now definitely need these 3 apps: (all or at least some of them)

    1. An app to control the overclock. (somehow)
    2. A desktop widget to monitor cpu temp and clock down if specified temp is reached.
    3. An app to monitor cpu usage and show alert, then if alert ignored,, shutdown if cpu is maxed at 100% for a specified amount of time.

That worries me pretty much - sometime my (not-yet-overclocked) N900 is pretty hot and stay that until switch OFF/ON. I suspect SGX but who knows...

Looking at the app for Android, it has many options such as CPU Governor and profiles which will control the CPU clock speed based on certain conditions (e.g. Charging, Sleep/Standy, Power < 30%, Failsafe Profile, etc).

The app are indeed very well thought out and awesome.

I would say, instead of critisizing OC on the N900, might as well create an app that have a set of controls like the Androids. It was also able to cater for various chipsets/devices. Plus, it has AUTO-DETECT feature which can detect the max clock speed for certain device/cpu.

This is what N900/Maemo should have too!
