I forgot to mention, I noticed mine warm up surfing on 3G. That said, I haven't played anything other than Bounce that is GPU heavy. Overall though, I still think most times when the N900 feels hot its the battery warming up due to heavy drain.

That's funny as the 900Mhz kernel is infinitely faster than 600Mhz, things are instant that were seconds before. Not games, everything. I noticed immediately that bootup was super fast, everything is more responsive.

One good test to those who want to see visible OC changes, is to install ENNA (like a media center for those who dont know..i think lol).

Booting speed; Gallery Scrooling..Wow, what a difference between the 600 Mhz and 900 Mhz.

Still thinking to test the 900 Mhz with 500 DSP..but there are no much comments about it..i'm afraiiddddddd ahahahaha : )

    Regards,

That's what I want to know..once the PR 1.2 update is up..will it revert back to 600 mhz?

    Question to the Overclocker's community:

what is your experience with any OC kernel + "smartreflex enabled"?
    is it working fine somewhere?
I use the 900Mhz kernel, and when I try to activate smartreflex (after boot, not from the config file) -> instant reboot

I'm fairly sure it will revert back to "normal" non-overclocked state after the PR1.2 update. I've noted about this in my guide I believe. Check my sig.

And yes, OTA will work just fine. But I do recommend for everyone to perform major firmware updates without the N900 overclocked. This should just be common sense to anyone who performs the overclock.

What's the opinion on using the overclock firmware just to lower resting from 250mhz to 125mhz and not actually up it over 600?

will this give me much of a battery boost?

bit thanks out to jakiman and his summary post

It's hard to say if it'll have much noticeable impact. Well, doubt it'll make it any worse though.

I flashed the 900MHz with stock DSP kernel to my N900 about 36 hours ago, and had no problems whatsoever in terms of stability.

A few hours ago, I tuned the CPU down a little to 800MHz, just to be on the safe side as it tends to get very hot in summer around here.

You can never tell for sure, but I doubt I'll ever have any problems with the 125-800MHz settings.

On a side note, 900MHz is noticeably snappier than 800MHz, but I think I can live with the difference )
