Today i tested it with a Canon Eos 350D SLR and it worked good, but the maximum working distance was around half a meter which i personally think is far too low. Dont get me wrong its still a useful thing and a great idea!
Do you think its possible to increase the IR power to get a longer working distance? I'd also favor a full app over the widget but the button style is very cool. Please keep that
Anyways, keep on coding cool stuff like that - i like it a lot!

hmm.. kind of like FM boost but for IR? That would definatley be very very cool... Don't know if it's technically possible though..... Hopefully someone who does will be along soon
One more vote for app instead of widget. also with an UI it would be possible to have more buttons/functions. My Canon supports two different IR shutter releases - there is an instant one (currently implemented) and a delayed one. It would be awsome to get the delayed one too...
What I'd love to know is whether Nikon DSLRs, esp. the D40, can be controlled remotely not just to open/close shutter, but also to set exposure, zoom, focus, etc.
with money and load of accessories + modding almost anything is possible
e: I should have time tonight to test the widget with 1D & 1Ds (both mk1)
Not possible with the remote. I've read some conflicting information about it when connected through a cable, and never had a chance to try it.
I built myself a small interface for it, to add a timer and repeater, that makes it a lot more useful to me. Not sure how interested the author would be in that, or if I should just make my own package, once it's polished a bit more.
thats cool .. i had posted a brainstorm for the same idea
so maybe you and twaelti could post a solution and close it ?
I sent what I did to twaelti a few days ago, but I haven't heard back yet. It uses an older version of Shutter, and is really not all that pretty, so even if he ends up using it, it would take a bit before something is presentable.
