Well the blogs do need to keep up relations with device manufacturers and essentially it is a popularity contest. The more they have readers, the more device manufacturers will suppory them with freebies and prototypes. And people want to read about Apple, be it hatingly or lovingly.

I'm sure it is because of the money. News related to a certain brand are read by more people, so more revenue from advertisers. When people get tired of it it they will change, unless another blog comes up and they will just disappear.

arstechnica.com and techcrunch.com are good alternatives to both izmodo and igadget

Anyone ever watch the thekseven phoneage blogs? I love john. I personally feel his blogs are spot on, and extremely unbiased. I sometimes find myself wishing he would pick a side so I can pinpoint where he leans.

also, for those of you who dont know, I do have a site

and it has crossed my mind at least 100 times to make a "gizmodo sucks" blog, and I would just point out on each post howmuch they and their reviews suck. but I canalmost garantee the guys over there will just post it on their site and say something like

"Gizmodo is so cool, it even has hate sites!!" and make me look like some kind of quak. like
"This guy apparently has so much free time he wrote a hate site just for us. Let him know what you think"

then my email would be flooded, or my server would get hacked by some gizmodo follower.

believe me the thought crosses my mind often. I might just get fed up and do it. I feel like i'm creeping closer and closer to that edge.
