Just tried tuning in to bbc news 24 as,usual and all of a sudden doesn't launch realplayer like it used. did.normal stuff like set lower transfer rate and default to realpkayer but opens up in media player as untitked and does not play. any Idead?

I can't set the video player to RealPlayer any more, it defaults to Windows Media and is greyed out and won't work.

I'd suggest contacting the BBC since I guess they've changed their detection logic.

At first I had the same issue-realplayer was greyed out, then trying the following day and could select realplayer-is thi sa bbc problem then?

BBC say its too expensive to cover all video formats etc.

I tried again, and the selector was once again greyed out for RealPlayer.

Solution for getting RealVideo from bbc.co.uk working
  1. In Opera, go to Tools > Settings and untick Enable JavaScript
  2. Open the BBC media preferences page
  3. Select Standard and RealPlayer
  4. Click OK
  5. Re-enable JavaScript

This allowed me to watch the BBC News 24 live stream with no problems.
