it depends.. normally you don't have to reflash the eMMC. Last time I've reflashed just the firmware my N900 was totaly unusable - some problems with graphics - menus were not shown, etc, etc... So I had to flash the eMMC and the firmware.
When doing this perform the firmware flash but without booting the phone (the -R command) and just flash the eMMC image after that.
The wiki page is really confusing at that point, someone messed it up.
in fact i flashed my N900 some hours ago and was a bit disappointed.
after installing some of the apps i saw that all my old settings are still there! and i didn't loaded my backup back into the N900.
so for me it looks like you have to use both if you want to do a full reset. just like lomo did.
Hi! I have a question : someone know if you can flash the N900 and on Windows XP with SP2 because in the tutorial it says that you must have SP3! Thanks in advance!

You can try it and see - I was unable to flash the eMMC with SP2 (not tried with SP3 though) and ended up using a bootable linux CD.
that's weird, i remember being told a while back to reflash the emmc first then the os :S i did and nothing really happened
i don't mean to cause any confusion here but i just want to know what problems might result from the reverse order of flashing and to make sure what's the right way as i plan on reflashing when (if) 1.2 comes out
