i'm hoping this information is going to help, hopefully some one will understand what the problem is.
Maybe if you try to install only the modules on the non-ulv/lv kernel-modules..

    dpkg -i kernel-modules-maemo_2.6.28-maemo20_armel.deb

You could wget it from here: http://maemory.com/N900/overclock/ or in terminal wget http://maemory.com/N900/overclock/ke...mo20_armel.deb

I think arbitrabbit is right... try that. It would hopefully work.. and as you just swap the kernel you will not loose anything.

I wish to run the risks and test the maximum that the N900 can reach with the kernel NORMAL (no voltage Amended)

For the X-terminal I find it very complicated!

    Poste for us please!

Lehto is no longer creating Kernels, He has gone into retirement (Rumours say he is actually the stig!)

You need to press U while turning the phone ON (so reboot your phone) to enter the upgrade mode. You can download the latest firmware from here. If you need more info on how to do it, see this page
i know how to flash the phone, but thats not what i want to do at this stage. i'm trying to understand why i'm getting this problem and how the flasher app on the phone became missing, it seems that none else is understanding, you cannot flash via phone without the flash app file somewhere on phone. mine is now missing

I think your only options are either to flash the kernel or wait on Titan or somebody who understands this things better. What i mean is not to flash the whole device.. just the kernel (Letho style).

Hmm, okay...post your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list here. It could be that some repos are missing from that. Alternately, just flash the kernel rather than wasting your time investigating the cause. Your wish.

    can i make an executable:

    sudo gainroot
    echo 1000000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

instead of typing it in, i ran the sunspider test for java btw and our lowly n900 is better than the new shiny ipad, just for shits and giggles. hella faster than the N1

hmm.. shouldn't it just be enough to download flasher-3.5 to the phone for that? Or that is maybe a different flashing tool?
