For me, a device lifetime of 1-1.5 years IS enough since I know n900 will not be a Nokia-supported device much more than PR1.2... if even PR1.2 is real.
If Nokia drop support for our N900, and maybe also Pr 1.2 isn't real, then why should Nokia users keep trusting Nokia and dishing out large amounts of money to buy their products just for it to be absolute in a couple of months?
This is my first Nokia phone in a number of years, if they drop support for it, I'll surely be buying from a different brand, for myself and for the people in my company, so I doubt how much Nokia will benefit. Also i believe that Nokia should keep us updated and well aware on whats happening regarding our phones and updates, rather than leaving us waiting and just speculating.
Another point is how do they expect to compete with Android and iPhone when they're not developing new applications, games, etc. for Maemo? and if they are developing them, still how do they expect to compete if they're moving at such a slow pace? Don't get me wrong, I love my N900, it's just I'm not satisfied with their service, Even messaging them for problems, support etc, they take ages to reply and then just reply telling me that they don't provide support for my location, then why do they sell them here?...
sorry my 'english', but comes PR1.2 not out before in juni? ...like MeeGO 1.0... is it/they (Maemo5 PR1.2 and MeeGO 1.0) same or samelike or ...is Maemo5 PR1.2 like MeeGO without Moblin?
Where did all the skeptics come from? Anyone thinking PR1.2 is not coming is either delusional or dumb. For crying out loud...even a buglist and manual of PR1.2 was released! It is a confirmed fact, the only question is when. My guess is next week.
