basically, do

apt-get clean

that will purge the cache of downloaded packages and free up space.
it's basically, as pointed out to you already, what is described in #22 -- but with the proper command.

afterwards, pleasse do

dpkg -C

and post the output here.

small, wonder. when the folder is empty, you can't delete files in it.

please, post the output of

Hi, I had the same problem on my N800. Mine was as a result of not having enough space to install the google-latitude-updater app on my N800 - the app installed half-way and complained of insuffient space on my device. After this, I started getting the operation failed error msg each time I open Application Manager.

This was how I resolved it:

1. open xterminal and run the following command:
df -h

check the available space for the /dev/mtdblock4 filesystem. Mine was:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mtdblock4 249.5M 248.2 1.3M 99% /

This meant that I had 1.3M of disk space. This is too small to run Application Manager.

2. In order to create more space, I had to delete my Gmail Account which had about 477 messages.
Goto Tools -> Accounts . Select ur e-mail acct, if any, and then delete it. This should create additional disk space for /dev/mtdblock4. Use df -h to verify that.

3. I then went on to uninstall the google-latitude-updater app to create more disk space (about 10.2MB) for /dev/mtdblock4.

Now u should be able to successfully open App Manager without the operation failed error msg.

In summary, the whole idea is to create enough disk space on /dev/mtdblock4 in order to run the app manager sw.

Cheers
