In Ubuntu have have a CPU Frequency Selector where i can select the clock frequency and the cpu management.

Can someone develope a desktop or statusbar widget to select the frequency?
E.g if i have a 1000mhz kernel i wold like to limit it to 600mhz to save power and switch it up to 1000mhz if needed without changing the kernel.

    LQ

Most of the foundation for this is in place with Titan's kernel and something like the helper script. A taskbar app, something like that which existed with the pyBattery stuff for diablo/n8x0 would be very useful.

Well the main difference between the Ubuntu bar and what you want is that with that bar you're underclocking, which is safe.
    Your request however isn't.
I wanted to make a script/app for this, but decided not to, since most users installs apps from the App Manager without reading the description, and a warning can't be included in the title (except the agree/decline stuff but some users won't notice the risk).

lq_sunshine: You do release this is automatically accomplished in the currently available kernel?

You device automatically switches frequencies when idle or under stress.
    Try Conky: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=23121
It shows you what's happening on your device.

Ok it may be dangerous, but could also be used to underclock the stock kernel.(when battery is low)

I am working on a program that will help to select frequency.
    Here is a preview:

Later maybe will make widget in future.

Is this app for overclocking the n900? If it is, when wud it be around for download? I dont mess around with x terminal so this app would be the only way id overclock.

Maybe also then having a core+ temperature visible would be good. When the temperature in modern PC systems increase, the systems increase the fan speed. There is no such thing in N900. Choosing the wrong CPU frequency covernor will make a nice brick.

Should "Up Threshold" and "Sampling Rate" not be drop-down (or some other selector) lists?

The free-form text entry fields seems dangerous to me.
