Why wouldnt they say we are working on the Ovi suite to be compatable or we are developing a version of the Ovi Suite specifically for the N900. I specifically asked when PC Suite or Ovi Suite would be compatable, and they replied that they are developing a "software application" specifically for the N900.
I see your point though, and that maybe so, but the more I analyise what they wrote in reply to the information I asked for, it doesnt add up :s

Adds up fine to me. It's not uncommon for developers to go down a development avenue and then realise that they are highly close to being compatible with an existing product, or realise that they can overcome a previous limitation and thus add support for a new device / platform in to existing software.

Because they didn't know that at the time? That's a couple of weeks ago now, and you weren't talking to the developers but to support(who don't always get kept up-to-date with progress).

Depends at what point in their development they decided to branch or integrate, if it was after they had mailed you why would they tell you?

Cause we're the customer, and keeping us in in their best interest lol? Im all for Ovi Suite if that is whats going to be compatable as I desperately want certain functions to be working sooner rather than later. But i'd rather have something far less bloated than Ovi Suite to use as a PC Suite. As with everything else, especially PR 1.2, only time will tell and wait we must. Thanks for the replies though, given me a different perspective on it

We should not worry about it because as I remember Nokia said that they gonna focus on Symbian ^3 and ^4 until 2011 Q2 and only one or two Maemo/MeeGo device will be available , so eventually they will shift to MeeGo but not until 2012, Maemo/MeeGo will be mostly available for flagship devices but N900 is just a developmental tool. Nokia is experimenting and developing on N900 for other devices , ADMIT it and your life will be much better oh btw I'm not saying its a bad thing. I love Nokia as a company and its nice to see and follow the evaluation path along with the company!

So that being said we will see support for Ovi Suite, Maps and whatever starts with Ovi lol but not for N900 specifically

I find Nokia tend to spread themselves too thinly trying to cater to a large audience. PC Suite was designed primarily for business use in the early days, and instead of making a clear break from PC Suite to Ovi Suite they have been up keeping both softwares side by side.

I don't think this model is sustainable and will end up slowing down development for both softwares.

Beta works with it, except Messaging sync.
