    Hi,

I have some problems with the mail-programm on my n900.
I think that the mtu's name is modest.

Where can I find the configuration files with my own account settings?

    Thanks,
    Daniel

The accounts configuration is stored in GConf under /apps/modest. What exactly are you looking for?

Some problems is a vague start to help...

For example if you have problems to connect to your mailserver and have already checked your settings, you could start an X Terminal window and enter
    export "CAMEL_DEBUG"="all"
to enable the debug mode of the mail library, and after that
    /usr/bin/maemo-summoner /usr/bin/modest.launch -s > /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/log 2>&1
to start the email application. Then try to connect to the mailserver. You will get a logfile named "log" which will be in your Home directory (please check for confidential data before uploading anywhere).

Thanks for the answers and sorry for the rather vague problem description.

I will try the logging. I have searched for logfiles in /var/log but I could not find anything.

Is it necessary to stop the email application If I start the email application with your command. Perhaps I have to execute a start script in /etc/init.d.

You mean the directory /var/lib/gconf/apps/modest, I think.

And I get the following error if I start the above start command.

    Code:
    ~ $ id
    uid=29999(user) gid=29999(users)
    ~ $ /usr/bin/maemo-summoner /usr/bin/modest.launch -s >/home/user/MyDocs/.documents/log 2>&1
    ^Z[1] + Stopped /usr/bin/maemo-summoner /usr/bin/modest.launch -s 1>/home/user/MyDocs/.documents/log 2>&1
    ~ $ bg
    [1] /usr/bin/maemo-summoner /usr/bin/modest.launch -s 1>/home/user/MyDocs/.documents/log 2>&1
    ~ $ tail -f /home/user/MyDocs/.documents/log
process 3632: arguments to dbus_bus_request_name() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_bus_name (name)" failed in file dbus-bus.c line 1070.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

That's the backing store, but you shouldn't modify it directly. Use gconftool-2 instead.

It always does that, so it's probably unrelated to your problem. You still haven't described what that problem is, but feel free to search bugs.maemo.org.

    Sorry!
My problem is that the phone sometimes can not refresh one of my two email-accounts (imap). I have to reboot the phone and normally everything works again.

Right, for debugging IMAP follow the advice in Andre's comment, and make sure you set CAMEL_DEBUG (export "CAMEL_DEBUG"="all") before starting modest.

I guess just "killall modest" in the terminal would work as well.

I also noticed that modest wont download anything even if i discard and re create the account again (on n810 latest fw)

edit: replaced imap's hostname by ip and it worked ??
