Hi Guys,

I'm a new N900 user, so please bare with me. I have a question about the application manager.

I successfully managed to add all the repository. But when I tap on 'Update', the application manager only shows the updates for the applications I have in my phone (installed) not the newly added applications in the repository.

Is that something normal, or I am doing something wrong?

That is normal. The "update" function compairs the apps that are installed to later versions available at a repository.

pressing the Update button refreshes the repository content list in your device, and it will indeed check if there is a new version of any app that is already installed in your device.

You need to tap Dowbload to get the downloadable apps list.
Welcome and enjoy your new N900

It will make a list of updates once available,
if your app manager is not running in behind, it will check at certain intervals, and it will tell you in the status area.

If you're just using the pre-installed maemo.org repository then you can subscribe to the RSS feed to get notifications of new packages. There's also a twitter account you can follow to get notifications for both the maemo.org and extras-testing catalogues. Finally, there's a program called AppWatch in the extras-devel repository (see warnings about installing from there) which you can use to follow what applications are being added to any of the maemo.org repositories.
