Hi, Everyone!

Sorry about my corrupted English I'm new here and just got my 770 two days ago. Some help of yours would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, I bought a GPS receiver (HOLUX M1000) and want to use my 770 in the car. The problem is, almost 8 out of 10 times, Maemo Mapper cannot find my GPS receiver, which is within the range (sitting just next to my 770).

First, I thought, there might be a compatibility issue between the 770 and the receiver. Then I realized this cannot be true because not only the receiver but also my Nokia 6230i was invisible to my 770. Then I started to google about it and read some recommendations. Here is what I did since then:

- Installed xterm

- Used "hcitool scan" command in xterm. I got "Device is not available: No such device" error message. I got this error when Maemo Mapper cannot find the receiver. When Maemo Mapper can find the receiver, the hcitool scan command also scans and finds the receiver w/o any problems. This tells me the bluetooth inside my 770 is working only sometimes.

- According to a post here, I added "user ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/hciconfig hci0 reset" line to /etc/sudoers file (Don't ask me how many forums I read in order to become root and edit this file; I'm a Windows user afterall). I added this line because the "Reset Bluetooth" menu in Maemo Mapper was giving me an error about this file.

- At first, this worked well for a couple of times. Then it started to give the same error message as before about the /etc/sudoers file. I checked the file if the line I added was there, and yeah it was there.

Do you think there is a major problem with my 770 and I need to return it for repair or this can be fixed?

I apologize for the long post. I'm in the learning phase and some help of yours can save me tons of time. Thanks!

Cheers,

I guess mine is not a common problem and I need to send the 770 back!

Thanks,

I had similar problems on OS2006 and it wasn't hardware. GPS connection always started to work after restarting the btdaemon ("/etc/init.d/btcond restart" in xterm as root). Surprisingly, this issue doesn't affect OS2007 HE.
