Here's my conspiracy theory. These photos were leaked by Nokia with a wink wink as an N800 replacement.
They monitor the boards to get user feedback on the initial design, then branch the real replacement accordingly.
In all reality it seems more like an HTC smartphone competitor. Probably won't run Linux, if it will ever exist that is.

@LarryS - yea, i'd agree too... i think nokia knows that that design won't fly, in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if that was a prototype for the n800 and they scraped it =P
i'm not wanting to hijack this thread, but while talking about a successor to the n800, what do you all think about L+R shoulder buttons simliar to the psp and lots of game controllers? - i think it'd make app/tab switching much better (Assuming the next model has the processor horsepower for it =P )
continuing on that thought, i think they should look at portable gaming systems (nintendo DS, PSP, gamepark etc...) for button placement and design or even just controllers for game consoles - i mean, these are tried and true working models of handheld input, and that's exactly what the n800 needs (hmmm... some popup (or popunder) Z trigger buttons would be sweeet =P =P jpjp)

IMHO this is what would make it awesome
1. move the d pad back up where it belongs
2. 4 programable buttons on right ( hopin for that snes emu.) also the possibility of 2 buttons on the shoulders that could be assigned other functions
3. retractable cam like the n800 but with better rez
4. stereo speakers
5. on the slide out keyboard , numbers have their own assiged keys , no shifting for numbers. and make it easy to shift or assign keys directly for for commonly used symbols and punctuation ( . / @ : )
6. some sort of hard front protection
7. and for christs sake make one thats totally black!!!!!
and what we dont need on it.....

Of course, if they decide on implementing GPS in it via the SIRFstar III chipset, then they wouldn't even need the A-GPS functions since my Holux GPSlim240 with that chipset locks on in about the same time period and it doesn't use A-GPS at all.
The N95 in a proclipusa vehicle mount is an awesome GPS navigation device.
I've used it to travel from one side of the USA to the other with no problems.
