sigh.... this has been discussed to death, and then revived and shot a few more times for good measure. There has been no official word that I've heard about whether or not it will be supported, so this is idle speculation. Furthermore, what you're missing is that it's not as simple as Nokia just "throwing a switch", and automagically having happy portrait fun in all your applications. If they were to do that, my guess is that plenty of applications would be horribly borked in portrait mode, because they weren't designed with that in mind. That's not to say that it couldn't work, but rather that everyone seems to think it's a simple matter of Nokia being a jerk and withholding the candy from us. I can't speak to Nokia's reasons, or future decisions (obviously), but why don't we all just calm down and stop talking about "proofs" that are circumstantial at best. This is sensationalism and speculation.

Have to disappoint you. They dont. I once got it for a second or three and nothing happend. Also, when u got your phone to stick in portrait, you'll also find out that the keys will be just cut off.

Just to share this odd experience:

Something strange just happened to the ui of my n900. I was making a phone call (the orientation was automatically turned into portrait) and after I finished the call, the whole ui of the phone was in portrait mode. There was no apparent way to change back to landscape mode (for example siliding the keyboard in and out did nothing).
Everything seemed to work ok on the phone, but as all the desktops and applications are designed for landscape mode they did not fit properly in desktop screens.

The only recent change on the phone was an update of Stockthis (from extras) that I installed this morning.

Anyways, a reboot remedied the problem and now the ui is back in landscape mode.
