    Hi crown77
When you try to reproduce it later (when it happens later), can you try test the proximity sensor strength test I'm curious about here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=520965&postcount=7 it would be interesting to see your results.

Can you also try testing changing the charging state ie: plug the charger in or unplug the charger, depending on whether you had it charging or not when the problem occured.
It's just when the problem lasted occured for me the phone was plugged in charging and every call I made the problem occured. When I unplugged the charger and immediatly made a call I could not make if happen, it has not happen since.

i have this problem too. sometimes my phone would lock itself prematurely when a call comes in. i'm usually pretty quick in taking my phone out when a call comes in. when i see the caller, sometimes just b4 i tap the answer button, the screen would lock itself suddenly and by the time i have unlocked it i missed the call. there was one occasion that when i was taking pictures, n a call came in then suddenly it locked itself b4 i answered it again, and this time causing a complete lock that when i unlocked everything is frozen and i had to restart the device. but that didn't always happen, coz yesterday while taking pictures, i had a call come in n it was fine.

I origanally post this bug https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7772
what happened to me was I had selected a contact and as i hit the call button at exactly the same time an incoming call came in causing the screen to change the call button to answer. the screen went black and keep on ringing . the screen lock button wouldn't work nor would the power button .I did try opening up the keyboard as well to no affect this continued untill the caller hung up.
It has only happened the once.but whats the the chance of that happening again.

This was using the original firmware.

outside, when i receive calls or when i try to call the screen locked...but inside all works fine... so i think its proximity sensor bug with sunlight...

Hmm. Last time this kind of behaviour started to happen me I had ~10 different apps installed from testing and develop and phone had been on for 6 days. I started to behave bit like people are describing here: blank screen and just ringing, Rotating was really slow or it just wen blank when it tried to rotate, trying to unlock it couple of times with switch but nothing happened. In addition I had problems with UI getting slow after time so i gave up and flashed N900 (fiasco + vanilla) and didnīt install anything on phone for week and disabled e-mail (Fck up thing to do when you have device like this :|) And it worked wonderfully was/is snappy. So far I have installed some apps to it, but gave up on this device. Now i just use it in my home without sim :| and fool around with it. Had to go back using just basic mobile phone.

Just saying that there might be some bug but also there might be some 3rd part application that has messed your system.

With my unit it is definitely related to sunlight. I viewed the proximity state change via 'cat /sys/devices/platform/gpio-switch/proximity/state' when exposed to natural sunlight. Not direct sunlight either... semi shaded. I have also reproduced this using the flame from a cigarette lighter approx 10cm away. I have no problems indoors (and away from open flames ) Need to find datasheet for this sensor, it must be an IR sensor. Why would they use a proximity sensor so easily triggered by natural light?

Ambient light sensor seems to be working correctly as well via 'cat /sys/bus/i2c/drivers/tsl2563/2-0029/lux' ... didn't know if they were somehow related. Luckily I'm not a big talker but this is still a pain having to slide open to make or receive calls... specially when calling automated services using the on screen number pad.

Hi there, I'm having this problem too; the screen remains black if caliing someone while I'm outside/or someone calls me while I'm outside- in home it works perfectly.
Please tell me this is a software or a hardware problem and how can I fix it, if i can?
