There is always a person that new. The first time i have Nokia N900, I dont even know what to do with it 
. Just ask your questions politely and I am sure some people will answer.
Remote Desktop is one of your answer. Depends on what you want to do.
Do you want to transfer files?
If you want to transfer files, then you will need to install nokia PC Suite then use bluetooth to transfer files.
if you insist to use wifi, then you need to install
rootsh
ssh server or ftp server
then transfer the files via winscp from your windows. Its really depends on what you want to do.

Or use sharing, make sure it's not HomeGroup. Though if a beginner you're better off with the suggested FTP.
Easiest way is with PC Suite and bluetooth. Slower, but simpler. Doesn't work via wifi.

How would i connect my N900 over wirless to my windows 7 pc.
