oh dear this thread is doomed to go downhill now! :0/
you signed up just to say this?
google most things about maemo and guess where you end up?
yeah thats right, HERE!
so, your effort to sign up and fan the fires or the impending flame war would have surly been better spent answering the original question, rather than wish the n900 was an exclusive geeky toy made just for linux gurus, as you obviously see yourself!
Well said. Everybody starts somewhere, maybe a tablet isnt the best start point, but thats how it is for most people, including myself. Tbh i dont think people will go well out of thier way to learn linux just to install a program on thier tablet. Which is why you do end up with lots of questions. But people on here help as much as they can and people start catching some of the basics, and we end up with a good community
wow, that was a lot of wasted time crying about l33tness. Lets try and get this thread back on topic. The video posted looks pretty good, and Im sure most people are interested in seeing this hit the extras-dev sooner rather than later.
Well im not trying to offend people here. but the real linux guru's around here are starting to forget the point of an advanced forum like this.
Its not only for geek to geek talk you know!!
People like me started from scratch to learn this. just like you geek guys did when you first started. If everyone then gave you the same stupid answers as you do to us now, then you would have the same knowledge that we have now.
And dont ******** me about its dangerous and you can damage your device! I reflashed the damn thing allot more then most of you guys!
Its to bad more and more people are becomming unhelpful around here. not responding to easy questions, its a shame where this forum went too nowadays.

Here's a suggestion. Why doesn't everyone get off their high horse. Say what you will about the attitudes. But I would argue that the geeks (the real ones) are doign more for this forum and this device (n900) than all the conjecture and banter of the crowd.
So either deal with the treatment, or educate yourself, and don't expect someone to be nice and do it for you.
You have to admit though that progess on apps at the moment is rather slow what with everyone waiting for PR1.2
It can also be a problem when developers, create an app themselves get it to a point where they are happy and then nothing else is donw so the app gets stuck in extras-dev or sometimes doesn't even make it there in the first place...
Im not having a go at the developers on this sight, at the moment they seem to be the only people driving any kind of development on the n900, it's a shame the same can't be said for nokia...
Still though half finished apps suck and for people like me who are a bit crap at linux I find it sad that so many apps get stuck and never see the day of light

Who is waiting?
PR1.2 does not bring anything new. You may aswell develop now, and your apps will be fine with PR1.2.

This is a fate of closed source apps - if the author loses interest, they die.
Open Source apps could be eventually picked-up by someone else.
