I can confirm that the microb downloads were in the updatelist before I installed any component.

As I had to reflash due to the (self inflicted) problems caused by the new browser I made screenshots to prove the microb and the update are in the repository. This is BEFORE I installed any component for the microb browser. I had to reflash because my full screen text input in Opera was damaged by the microb install. Very weird. Anyhoe, here are the screens:

And in the meantime offering this update:

For what it's worth, I saw the screens too just as you showed them (before I upgraded and installed microb)

But should I install them when I'm not using microb or not?

I upgraded them before I installed microb, but I didn't really use the N800 much to see if they had any negative effect on anything else before I actually installed microb. However, if you don't plan to install microb I would say just leave them alone (the browser-eal and tablet-browser-control upgrades). If it ain't broken don't fix it..

Frankowitz - judging by previous posts saying it causes problems, probably best NOT to accept the upgrade. I've posted the details of this thread on #irc, if there's any feedback I'll post an update here - early indications are that a browser-eal update has been released to fix some issues with opera, but whether it's intended only for microb users is unknown.

OK, thanks Mil. As I'm not experiencing any major problems now, I'll just wait.

My 2cents says that after upgrading with the suggested 'browser-eal' and 'tablet-browser-control' packages (wow, I thought, some improvements to browser interface?!?!?), the windows manager started going crazy when using more than one opera windows. After some time of use, the system started switching between two windows and stopped only clicking on the menu-bar.
After that, looking for a solution, I discovered the microb browser and decided to install it. The summentioned failure went away and everything is fine, now. Well, at least I am one of microb beta-testers
The bug, if we could call that so, is that the two packages should not appear into the suggested update...

It's possible they should have appeared, as browser-eal and tablet-browser-control have always (I believe) been present on the N800 and these components have now received an update. I admit it's unusual to see what is effectively a system component being updated in this way, and I know such updates are a planned enhancement for Maemo 4.0 (making flashing an optional requirement when upgrading the OS!)

The problem seems to be that upgrading browser-eal when Microb is not present results in bugs and instability elsewhere.
