Hi.
I need help locking the desktop so there are no accidental changes made. I want to turn it off.

use the desktop activity manager application... i think it's in a thread called actman.... there u can save ur desktops and revert back to ur saved scenario in case of any changes.

what is the desktop activity manager application? I just want to turn it off and keep it as is.

You can create other desktop with that app and save them!
With a touch of a button you can switch with lay-outs....
I use it for my work and hobbies!
For every activity a different layout

I just downloded and installed the desktop activity manager (actman). Looks like it might work. Thanks all for your help!

There is also modilfied-hildon-desktop which adds a gconf key that disables desktop edit mode. See here:
