also with the droid i see a fair few reviews saying it is 'unuseable'
is it really that bad? i am a heavy texter so keyboard is important. i love my bold keyborad
i have both phones in my hand now, and the droid is slower
also, the keyboard is damn flat. you cant feel where your fingers are.
and the "click" is strange too. i really like the n900 design in hardware keyboard
but i also realize that is just a single part of phone. i really like android

which is pushing me towards the N900. i also greatly prefer the UI of maemo.
so people say firefox is bad. what about chrome? does it have any function that will allow you to continue with what you were doing on your desktop browser?
The built in browser is the best out there for mobile devices, and is Firefox based. I haven't tried the official port of firefox, so no comment. The Chromium port is cool but nowhere near ready for daily usage.
like i said before, i like the fact that there is a forward facing camera on the N900, though sort of a novelty.
it would be nice to use on aMSN
also, i read that it isnt possible at the moment, but something i would really like to see is the N900 able to run chatroulette. now that would be amusing
If all you're going to do is text, make a few calls, and browse the web lots then the n900 is for you. You won't be able to do much beyond this but it does these 3 things exceptionally well (minus the lack of MMS support)
If you want apps and "coolness" then your bet is with Android, although perhaps not necessarily with the droid

what anout fMMS?
i do send a lot of pictures messages as i get free MMS to anyone
If you have guts and self-confidence and seek adventure, get the N900. If you want the phone to give you self-confidence and seek a device that will hold your hand when times are tough, go with the droid.
If you want people to respect you because you have a cool phone, get the droid. If you want people to respect you because you can make your phone do anything, get an N900.
The built in browser on the n900 is absolutely godly... I haven't texted for any extended amount of time on a Droid, but touching and playing with the keyboard was a huge turnoff, barf...
Firefox was what was making me want an N900. I like the add on that knows the tabs up on your desktop browser and puts it up on your phone. Looked cool
Basically I like to browse the web, listen to music, and multitask. Which is what I like about my blackberry. Its great for doing multiple things at once.
I like how there's a heap of apps for the droid. Especially docs to go editor edition. As I would be using that for school work
The built in Web Browser (MicroB) does a far better job than firefox does. Firefox has a really slow start-up and the user interface isn't fully finished. Like for example sometimes your scrolling down a page and it brings up the option panels on the left and right hand sides.
Also you cant use the keyboard arrows to move down the screen like the built in browser. Hopefully it will get updated eventually, but they're pretty slow.
If your blackberry is doing such a great job why change?
I dont mind my N900, but I'm also hanging out to upgrade to a Windows Phone 7 at the end of this year. After using the SDK and the emulator it's very nice.
What apps are you guys missing? I got all that i need. Chromium are good in some circumstances but doesn't work on all the pages. The stock brower (microB) is the best allround and do have some firefox extensions. The real Firefox is slow on start up but works well.
I do all my social webbing on the n900 including MSN, Skype and stuff. The integration of Skype is awesome also MSN if you install the pecan plugin.
The 32 gig that comes with the phone are also a pro. And it has a decent camera.
I think if you are a heavy writer you would be more happy with a netbook. The screen is the limiting thing here. The writing is good on n900 compared to other phones.. but compared to a netbook it stands flat.
