I think it's easy: wait for pr1.2 update. If the "troll" threads tend to disappear, then n900 will be THE great phone you (and all of we) thought it was when purchased. So you could buy one and enjoy it.
If threads don't disappear... this is not a conspiracy against Nokia, this is the feeling of LOTS of non-linux-geeks users disliking it.
N900 CAN be the number one, but now it's the number three.

i own both a droid and an N900 and yes, the droid's keyboard is flat and squishy and at first, i hated it. but after just a week or so of using it, I had adjusted fine. You've got a very tough question to answer, i think these are the 2 best phones on the market, but dont make the decision on the keyboard. you'll get used to either one!

i hear a lot of bad things about windows mobile. what makes you want that?

i love my blackberry, but i wnt something new, and the browser simply doesnt cut it. blackberry used to be the mobile leaders, but are really lacking new things of late.

iv been very impressed with all the N900 videos. it just seems great

Go to a store and try them out. No one's on-line subjective thought could (should) convince you in one direction or the other.

Good heavens, if I wanted to do a lot of writing I wouldn't use a phone. Someday I would want speech-to-text for that, but I don't think any phone has decent speech-to-text yet. I'm typing this on my N900, so it is suitable for notes.

Do you realize that you're describing wankers (both arguments)?

People who use their phones (or computers, or cars, etc) to get respect need to go out more and realize there are more important things out there to care about.

get the droid. look at the sorry state we r in right now. we r all miserably waiting for pr 1.2, almost all development stopped bcoz the sdk is now 1.2 but we can't use it and can't do anything about it until new firmware is release. pr 1.2 release date is indefinite, possibly never will come.

even if pr1.2 does get release, development from nokia for n900 will cease permanently soon.

don't get me wrong, i love my n900. n don't give that i didn't research enough ********. i knew the device is perfect, and i don't even mind the bugs and the immature state. but i invested into this device for it to continue development, not hitting the obsolete.

u r better off with motorola, at least they seem to care about their customers. not give us a bunch of ********, betrayed our trust, and throw us out into the wolves.
